About this Safari
This is the quintessential northern and hits all the iconic safari locations for the first time or return visitor. After a relaxing day to ease into African time, head off with your expert naturalist/guide to Oliver’s Camp, in the remote south of Tarangire NP. You will have access to a mix of activities here. The following day will see you traverse Lake Manyara NP, a gem of park that is a microcosm of Tanzanian landscapes and wildlife. Then it is on to theNgorongoro Crater, a world heritage site and incredible for its wildlife densities. You will visit the crater from your base at Gibb’s Farm, a working coffee plantation in the Ngorongoro Highlands.

You will then take a bush flight to Sayari Camp in the northern Serengeti. Sayari is located right on the river and it is not at all unusual to see the famous river crossings right from camp itself! This safari has been especially designed to coincide with the river crossings of the Great Wildebeest Tanzania Migration. While it is true that the great herds cross over into the Masai Mara during this period, at least half of them remain in the northern Serengeti, crossing and re-crossing the Mara River multiple times.
Recommended months: July-October

What Makes this Tanzania Migration Safari Tour Special?
- In Tarangire, you will be away from the visitors who typically remain near the gate in the north of the park. Instead, this safari takes you to the much less visited and much more remote southern ‘Wilderness’ section of the park
- Walking is a highlight at Tarangire. Most park visitors cannot do this but our guests will have access to both walking safaris and night game drivesinside the national park – giving them the opportunity to focus on the smaller eco-systems and rarely seen nocturnal animals
- Extremely well-trained guides at Sayari who know this area of the Serengeti like the back of their hand. They will be happy to take you to the less visited nooks and crannies of the Serengeti, an Tanzania safari tour experience like no other.
- Sayari Camp askaris enjoy nothing better than introducing children to the joys of bush life. They can conduct archery lessons and other special kid activities if requested
Sangeeta's Note
I have visited this northern area of the Serengeti during the dry season and been amply rewarded by the magnificent sight of wall-to-wall wildebeests and zebras surrounding me from every direction. August onwards the grass is shorter and it is easier to see predators in action. The Tanzania migration is truly something I have no words for.
