One of the best things about booking a privately guided safari is that your safari itinerary will be 100% custom designed to your specific tastes in accommodation, what you’d like to see, and where you’d like to go. No part of Kenya (or indeed East Africa) is impossible and no idea too wild.
Below is a sample itinerary that can be customised with the help of Zarek.
Private Safari with Zarek Cockar Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi
Arrive in Nairobi and meet your guide, Zarek, at the airport before being transferred to The Giraffe Manor, where you’ll spend the night.
Giraffe Manor is one of Nairobi’s most iconic buildings: characterful, picturesque, and enveloped in history like the foliage creeping over its brickwork. The most fascinating thing about Giraffe Manor is not its beautiful façade or elegant interiors: it’s the herd of resident Rothschild giraffe. These beautiful creatures often visit morning and evening, poking their long necks into the windows in the hope of a treat, before retreating to their forest sanctuary.
Days 2 - 4: Samburu & Northern Kenya
Fly by private charter to Samburu National Reserve in Kenya’s rugged North, where
“Northern Specialists” like Beisa Oryx, Grevy’s Zebra, Gerenuk, and Somali Ostrich abound. This area is characterized by dramatic hills, kopjes, Doum Palms, and the wide, sweeping Ewaso Nyiro River.
Overnight: Elephant Bedroom Camp
Day 5 - 6: Lewa
Drive to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, an award-winning catalyst and model for community
conservation, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and features on the International Union for the
Conservation of Nature’s Green List of successful protected areas. Lewa is known for its rhinos, elephants, and its major predators.
Overnight: Lewa Safari Camp
Day 7 - 9: Say hello to Tsavo
Day 7,8, 9: Fly by Private Charter to Tsavo West National Park. A long history of volcanic activity has shaped this beautiful landscape, pushing up granite ridges, and carving steep escarpments. This is classic elephant and lion country, quintessential Africa. Tsavo West and East National Parks cover an area of over 22,000 km squared, making this one of the largest formally protected areas in the world.
Overnight: Lion’s Bluff Lodge
Day 10, 11, 12: The Mara Conservancies
Fly by Private Charter to Mara Naboisho Conservancy, a 50,000 acre community-run
conservancy bordering the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Mara Naboisho is an award winning conservancy, boasting one of the highest densities of both Lions and Giraffes in East Africa, providing an exclusive game-viewing experience away from the crowds, and contributes a predictable, tangible income to over 500 Maasai land-owner families. This is big cat country at its very best.
Overnight: Encounter Mara Camp.
Day 13: Back to Nairobi
Fly back to Nairobi, where Zarek will transfer you to the airport to say farewell, until your next safari.
