Face to face encounters with forest elephants on the riverbanks, which eco-guides look for on foot in the forest or from the water. Akaka lies in one of the remotest parts of Loango National Park, and much can be watched from the lounge area, birds especially, without leaving camp.

What is the accommodation?

Five comfortable tents, each with two single beds and an en-suite bathroom with an outside shower, basin and toilet. Each is mounted on a platform with a private terrace facing the forest, so you sleep amid the sounds of the jungle rather than sealed off from them.

How do you explore, and when is best?

Forest walks, kayaking and motorised boat rides are the main activities, all with eco-guides. In the dry season thousands of water birds crowd the drying pools, which is a spectacle in itself. No rates are published online at present, so please contact us for current figures and availability.
