Questions about Gibb's Farm

Is Gibb's Farm still a working farm, or just a lodge?

It began life as a coffee plantation in the 1920s and the farm remains central to the experience. A private farm tour and local cultural activities are part of the full-board rate, and you can sit with freshly roasted coffee from the estate looking out over the Great Rift Valley.

Can we use Gibb's Farm as a base for more than the Ngorongoro Crater?

Yes. The lodge sits on the outer slopes of the crater and works well as a retreat while exploring Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara national parks, as well as Lake Eyasi. Many of our guests settle in for several nights here rather than moving lodges each day.

What is the spa like at Gibb's Farm?

The Gibb's Farm African Spa draws on indigenous Maasai healing techniques, and treatments can be taken in the privacy of your own cottage rather than in a central spa building. It suits guests who want a slower day between crater excursions.
