Karenge Bush Camp, Akagera National Park, Rwanda
A Tented Camp in Rwanda
Camp Details
Karenge Bush Camp is a rustic, fully catered bush camp featuring seven en-suite tented chalets (canvas on raised wooden decks).
The canvas central area includes a lounge, dining area and bar, an outdoor fire pit and a wooden deck with wonderful views over the bushveld below. Karenge means ‘small footprint’ in Kinyarwanda, which reflects this camp’s rustic charm and light ecological footprint.
Perched on a ridge overlooking the wildlife-rich Kilala Plains below, Karenge is an off-the-grid getaway for safari enthusiasts seeking privacy and solitude. In the remote north of Akagera National Park, the camp is completely unfenced to give guests a natural safari experience. The camp is conveniently located a short drive from the north (exit only) gate to the national park – near productive game-viewing areas.
WHY CHOOSE KARENGE BUSH CAMP?
- Sizeable herds of buffalo, topi and zebra are everywhere in Akagera, taking advantage of bountiful grasses.
- Spotted hyenas and leopards are found in healthy numbers in the park.
- Elephants feed peacefully in woodland valleys below and the breathtaking vistas are almost primaeval.
