Pungwe is a small, intimate and authentic safari camp which evokes the essence of a true safari experience. With just four comfortable en-suite Meru-style tents reminiscent of the days when safaris were all about the sights, sounds and smells of wild Africa, our camp is about the bush, the wild fauna and flora, the stories of the wilderness and the subsequent regaling of these by our iconic campfire.

How small is the camp?
There are just four en-suite Meru-style tents, each under a thatch roof with tiled floors. That scale is the point: it means privacy, personal attention and evenings around the campfire rather than a crowd, in a quiet corner of the Manyeleti Game Reserve within the Greater Kruger.
Can we walk instead of driving?
Yes. The rate includes daily morning and afternoon or evening game drives with a FGASA qualified ranger and tracker, and you have the option of replacing a morning game drive with a guided bush walk led by the same team.
How are meals arranged?
The day runs on morning teas and coffees, brunch, high tea and dinner rather than a conventional three meals, which fits around the drive times. Rates are ZAR 5,950 per person per night through 2026, rising in 2027, and children aged six and over are welcome.
