Thamo Telele is a safari lodge in Maun located within a 250-hectare private game reserve on the outskirts of the iconic safari town, the gateway to the Okavango Delta.
This comfortable lodge sits in an enviable position bordering the Thamalakane River, offering a space for relaxation and tranquility and is the ideal stop-over either side of any safari.
Set amongst a forest of old growth leadwood and acacia trees, each safari-style tent and thatched chalet is a little bush haven. The reserve is a wildlife sanctuary full of life and surrounded by habitats of river, riverine, woodland and dry savanna brimming with plains game and birdlife, including our herd of resident giraffe!

That is exactly what it is set up for. The lodge lies on a 250-hectare private reserve on the edge of Maun, only a 20-minute drive or five-minute helicopter flight from the airport, with transfers running daily, which makes it an easy bookend either side of a Delta safari.

There is a resident herd of 20 giraffe, all named and identifiable by their spot patterns, and an afternoon giraffe activity is part of the fully inclusive rate. You can also meet plains game such as zebra on foot or on horseback, which is unusual and works well with children.
Is it a good spot for birdwatching?
One of the best in northern Botswana. Over 300 species have been recorded in and around the reserve, and keen birders should expect 50 to 70 species in a day, helped by the mix of river, riverine woodland and dry savanna along the Thamalakane. There are marked nature trails you can walk yourself.
