Ol Donyo Lodge, Chyulu Hills, Kenya

Chyulu Hills National Park, tucked between the plains of Tsavo West and Amboseli, is known for its rugged volcanic hills and breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro. The Chyulu Hills are one of the youngest mountain ranges in the world, formed only around 500 years ago. A popular attraction is the 11.5 km Upper Leviathan Cave, considered one of the longest lava caves in the world. The park offers clear skies, volcanic backdrops and wide, uncluttered landscapes.
Encounters with large mammals such as buffalo, bushbuck, eland, elephant, leopard, giant forest hog, bush pig, reedbuck and giraffe are common. Various reptiles and insects can also be spotted. Horse riding, camping, mountain climbing and birdwatching are among the activities enjoyed here.
Temperatures vary between 20 and 30°C, with rainfall of 200 to 700 mm. The park has two rainy seasons: the long rains from March to April and the short rains in November and December.
Park fees are included in every Chalo Africa itinerary.
