Is there a honeymoon discount?
There is. Cottar's offers a honeymoon special of 50 per cent off one partner's accommodation, and it has already been applied to the rates shown for travel between 11 January and 31 May and from 1 to 19 December. If your wedding date allows either of those windows, the saving on a six-night trip is considerable.
Which camps does the itinerary use?
Three nights at Elewana Elsa's Kopje in Meru National Park, built into a rocky kopje in a park that remains relatively untouched, followed by three nights at Cottar's 1920s Camp in the Masai Mara. Both are luxury tented properties, and flights connect Nairobi, Meru and the Mara so you are not spending your honeymoon in a vehicle.
What is there to do beyond game drives?
Cottar's includes night game drives, guided bush walks, a Maasai warrior school, traditional canvas bush baths, an hour of Maasai beading with Mama Nashiro Batian, educational talks, stargazing, coffee tasting, a foraging and medicinal walk, an hour learning with female conservation rangers and a reforestation seedball activity. At Elsa's Kopje a bush breakfast or bush lunch is included.
Is a hot air balloon flight over the Mara included?
No. Sunrise over the Mara from a balloon is one of the possibilities we describe for this trip, but it is not on the list of included activities, and anything outside that list is charged separately. Tell us at the enquiry stage if you would like it added and we will quote it alongside the itinerary.
When is the best time to go?
July to November is the strongest period for game viewing on this route. Pricing starts from US$7,269 per person sharing for 11 January to 27 March, 11 May to 30 June and 1 November to 19 December, rising to US$8,289 for 7 July to 31 October and 20 December to 3 January 2027. The lower band overlaps with the honeymoon discount dates.
