Questions about Basecamp Mara Houses
What do you get with a private house that you would not get in a tented camp?
Each of the three self-contained houses comes with its own service team, including a private guide and safari vehicle. That means game drives, meals and rest days run to your own timetable rather than a camp schedule, which suits families and groups of friends travelling together.
Are the three houses the same?
No. Mara House, Acacia House and Dik Dik House each have their own look and feel, although all three are held to the same standard of comfort and service. Tell us your group size and we will advise which of the three fits best.
How are the houses charged, and what is included?
They are priced per house rather than per person, starting from US$1,600 and rising in the busier months. The rate covers full board, soft drinks, house wines, selected beers and house spirits, and day and night game drives. We will confirm the figure for your dates.
