The Chilo safari experience combines spacious luxury in one of Southern Africa’s last truly remote wilderness areas with the unmatched Zimbabwean guiding knowledge, care, warmth and hospitality. This safari lodge is spacious with vast views offering you a haven from the heat of the day, a place to rest and recoup, and to prepare for your next Gonarezhou safari adventure. You will feel like home when the Chilo family welcomes you and the expansive viewing deck will be your place to go to watch elephants, hippos and crocodiles cooling off in the waters of the river amongst abundant vegetation.
The main lodge is surrounded by beautifully tended indigenous gardens cared for by Enock, Head Gardener. Relax in the shaded swimming pool or sit on one of the wooden benches dotted around the garden marveling at the majestic view of the Save River.

Can we visit the Chilojo Cliffs from the lodge?
Yes, there is a full-day excursion to the red sandstone Chilojo Cliffs, which sit in the heart of Gonarezhou National Park on the banks of the Runde River. It is a long day out and generally the highlight of a stay, so plan at least three nights if you want to fit it in comfortably.
Is there much to do on foot or in the community?
There is. A five-kilometre walking trail runs from the lodge to Chivalila Falls, which makes a good start or end to the day. The Cultural Home offers an insight into Shangaan society through dancing, arts and crafts, and there are visits to the local school and clinic.
Are activities and drinks part of the rate?
They are. The rate covers luxury accommodation, three meals daily, teas and coffee, all activities, drinks and daily laundry. Luxury Lodges are from US$525 per person per night from January to March and November to December, US$635 in April and May, and US$750 from June to October. Children of all ages are welcome.
