Fundu Lagoon is a small, private hotel located on a beautiful mangrove fringed beach on the south western shores of Pemba Island, part of the Zanzibar ‘Spice Island’ archipelago. Pemba lies to the north of its larger and better known sister island, Unguja, and here you will find natural peace and tranquility.

Remote and private, Fundu Lagoon is situated by a sandy beach in the liminal fringes where jungle meets the ocean and is only accessible by boat. The hotel has a range of twelve private hillside and beachfront suites as well as wonderful communal spaces that include four bars, a jetty, fusion spa, a stunning infinity pool, five-star dive facilities and a spacious open sided restaurant serving a wide range of delicious cuisine.

WHY CHOOSE FUNDU LAGOON?

  • The largest of living spaces at Fundu Lagoon, these extensive suites offer deluxe accommodation incorporating a stylish bedroom and an open plan living area.
  • Offers the most privacy, set slightly back from the beach in the trees. It also has an extensive private deck with an elevated seating area for relaxing or reading and a plunge pool.
  • enjoy privacy, panoramic views of the Indian Ocean and a cooling breeze
  • The spacious outside deck area has a plunge pool and is perfect for intimate dining.

Questions about Fundu Lagoon

Is it true you can only arrive by boat?

Yes. Fundu Lagoon sits on a mangrove-fringed beach on the south-western shore of Pemba Island and is reached only by boat, which is a large part of why it feels so private. Pemba lies north of Unguja, the better known of the Zanzibar islands, and is a good deal quieter.

Are children allowed?

Children aged 12 and above are welcome. Below that age we would point you towards other options in the archipelago. The hotel is small, with twelve hillside and beachfront suites, four bars, a jetty, a fusion spa, an infinity pool and an open-sided restaurant, so it reads as a grown-up retreat rather than a family resort.

What does the rate cover, and can we dive?
