Is this a lodge to stay at for several nights?
It is designed as a start and end point rather than a destination, with one to two nights recommended for a smooth transition in and out of Tanzania. It sits on the outskirts of Arusha in the foothills of Mount Meru, which makes it the natural gateway to the Northern Safari Circuit.
What are the cottages and grounds like?
There are 10 private cottages plus two generously spaced family cottages, set in lush tropical gardens alive with birdsong, with oversized beds and billowing mosquito nets. The lodge stands on a working coffee plantation, and you can visit the neighbouring coffee estate for a close look at how coffee is farmed in East Africa.
Are airport transfers included?
Arrival and departure transfers between the lodge and Arusha Airport are included, but not transfers to Kilimanjaro International, so budget for that separately if you are flying into JRO. The rate, from US$440 per person per night, covers dinner, bed and breakfast, mini bar soft drinks, internet, nature walks and cycling trails.
