They do, and it is the reason many guests come: not many people can say they have slept in a shipwreck. The lodge sits on the remote Skeleton Coast among towering dunes and wind-swept plains beside the cold Atlantic, surrounded by the wrecks that give the coast its name.
How do we spend the days on the Skeleton Coast?
Days are spent exploring the dry riverbeds, starting with a sunrise breakfast over the landscape and ending with a climb up the great roaring dunes. There is beachcombing for relics, the Clay Castles, the history behind the wrecks, and the tok-tokkie beetles, plants and lichens that survive on the coastal fog.
Can we combine Shipwreck with another camp?
Combining it with Hoanib Valley Camp is our usual suggestion, and the transfer drive between the two is an experience in itself for the changing scenery. Rates include accommodation, all meals and beverages, guest laundry, daily activities, airstrip transfers, expert guiding and VAT. Children of six and above are welcome.
