Tanzania Camps & Lodges
Stanley’s Kopje, Mikumi National Park, Tanzania
A Tented Camp in Tanzania
Camp Details
Stanley’s Kopje is the only camp in Mikumi National park set up on a rocky kopje on the Mkata flood plain, it presides over the best game viewing area of the park, the Mwanamboga waterhole.
Stanley’s Kopje perches high on a rocky kopje, enjoying fine 360 degree views over the surrounding Mikumi wilderness, whilst the 12 tents are spaced around the lower perimeter of the hill, with stunning views across the plains. The tents are pitched on high wooden platforms with traditionally built thatched roofs which provide shade from the sun while you sit on your veranda and enjoy the game around the camp.
WHY CHOOSE STANLEY’S KOPJE?
- The little-known Mikumi National Park is well stocked with big game and a wide variety of birds, all set in beautiful golden grasslands, against a backdrop of Uluguru Mountains and Mikumi Hills.
- Guiding is not just about the big animals and birds. Guiding covers all aspects of the Park, its insects, spore, footprints, plants and anecdotal stories.
- The Tanzanian landscape includes several small isolated mountain ranges. Each of these has a unique mixture of habitats and animal species and none more so than the Udzungwa Mountains National Park.
- At Mikumi we like to be able to add those special touches that add the magic to your safari; from bush breakfasts to sundowners and picnic lunches in the bush. What better way to watch the sun go down than with a cool drink, overlooking the grunting hippos in a waterhole.
