Camp Details
Tusitiri Dhow is based in the Lamu archipelago on the north Kenyan coast. Dhows are traditional wooden sailing vessels originally built for carrying exotic spices and goods along the Indian Ocean trade routes. Tusitiri was originally built as a trading vessel over 50 years ago and subsequently restored by her current owners. Tusitiri is today a majestic and comfortable vessel offering dhow safaris in the Lamu archipelago. Tusitiri is ideal for families or a group of friends wanting a unique and private experience of the beautiful and historic islands of the north Kenyan coast. Tusitiri can be chartered on an exclusive use basis for multi-day dhow safaris for up to 10 guests.
Life on-board revolves around Tusitiri’s broad deck. Meals are prepared in the open-air galley kitchen at the bow and served in dining area. There are comfortable sitting areas with beautiful views over the ocean, quiet corners to relax in, and the day-cabins below deck provide storage and changing facilities. At night brass lanterns light up the deck, and after dinner white linen-bedrolls are set up on deck. On Tusitiri all the beds are star-beds!

- Nights are spent on white linen bedrolls under the stars and meals, usually fresh seafood and local produce, accompanied by excellent house wines, are taken al fresco on the deck.
