Questions about this Kenya flying safari
Which areas does this eight-day flying safari cover?
Three quite different ecosystems over eight days and seven nights. You begin at Hemingways Nairobi in Karen, then fly to Meru National Park and Elsa's Kopje, on to Loisaba Tented Camp in the Laikipia hills, and finish at Sand River Masai Mara on the banks of the Sand River before flying back to Wilson Airport.
How does the flying part work?
You travel on direct flights aboard an executive luxury aircraft, with a single check-in and an additional luggage allowance compared with most scheduled light aircraft services. The point is to cut out long road transfers, so more of your time is spent in the parks rather than between them.
What wildlife makes these parks worth combining?
Meru has only two camps in its 870 square kilometres and holds rare northern species such as Grevy's zebra, gerenuk, Somali ostrich and reticulated giraffe. Loisaba, a 57,000-acre conservancy, adds wild dog, greater kudu and beisa oryx. The Masai Mara National Reserve is home to three million large animals, more than half of them migratory.
What does it cost through the year?
Prices start from US$11,000 per person sharing for 1 April to 31 May 2026. From 5 January to 31 March, 1 to 30 June and 1 November to 19 December the rate is US$11,610, while 1 to 4 January, 1 July to 31 October and 20 to 31 December are US$12,150.
When are the best months to travel?
The recommended season is June to November. We rate June through October as the strongest months, along with December. January to March and November are good, while April and May are the weakest of the year for this particular route. Stay-longer extensions can be added at either end.
