Questions about this bush and beach trip

How is the week split between safari and beach?

One night at Hemingways Nairobi on arrival, three nights at Elewana Sand River Masai Mara, then three nights at Elewana Kilindi Zanzibar before flying home from Abeid Amani Karume International Airport. That gives two full days of game viewing in the Mara and a proper stretch on the coast rather than a token night at the end.

What is included at each stage?

Full board at both Sand River and Kilindi, with soft drinks, beer, house wines and selected spirits. In the Mara that covers shared scheduled day game drives, bush breakfasts and sundowners; in Zanzibar it covers paddleboarding, kayaking, interactive Swahili cooking classes and sundowners. Park and conservancy fees, scheduled flights, one single entry visa per person, transfers and laundry are also included.

What is there to see in Zanzibar besides the beach?

The island's spice heritage is the usual draw, with guided tours of the spice farms along the Spice Route and a rainforest nature walk where you taste and smell different spices and learn about the tropical plants and trees. Excursions of this kind sit outside the listed inclusions, so we would quote them for you separately.

Are there dates when this trip cannot run?

Yes. There are no rates for 1 to 31 May 2026 as Elewana Kilindi Zanzibar is closed. Over the festive season, 22 December to 3 January 2027, Kilindi requires a minimum five-night stay and rates are quoted on request. Outside those windows the itinerary runs through most of the year, with January to October the recommended period.

How much does it cost?

From US$8,620 per person sharing for 4 January to 31 March, 1 to 30 June and 1 November to 19 December. From 1 July to 31 October the rate is US$9,719 per person. International flights, visas, champagne and luxury spirits, exclusive use of a vehicle and gratuities fall outside the quoted cost, as do additional meals and drinks at Hemingways Nairobi.
