Questions about this private Kenya trip

Who is this itinerary designed for?

Families, groups travelling together, photographers, outdoor enthusiasts and anyone who wants watersports at the end of a safari. It uses two privately owned properties across two very different ecosystems, and there is a strong emphasis on meeting the tribal communities of each area, whose traditional ways remain relatively untouched.

What are the two properties like?

The first three nights are at Cottar's Bush Villa on the 7,000-acre Olderkesi Conservancy, an untouched stretch of the Masai Mara with sweeping views towards the Serengeti and renowned guides who know the ecosystem intimately. You then move to Alfajiri Villas on Diani Beach, owner-run and hosted, where each private villa has its own swimming pool and direct beach access.

How is the cost calculated for a group?

Rates are based on a group of six guests and quoted per person sharing, starting from US$9,641 for 1 April to 31 May and 1 to 30 November. From 11 January to 31 March, 1 to 15 June and 1 to 19 December the rate is US$10,841, and from 16 June to 31 October it is US$12,936. Costs for single travellers and larger families are available on request.

Can we travel over Christmas and New Year?

You can, with one condition. Alfajiri Villas require a minimum seven-night stay over the festive season, from 20 December to 6 January, and rates for that period are quoted on request rather than published. If you want the beach section shortened instead, we can restructure the itinerary around a different coastal property.

How do we move between the Mara and the coast?

This is a flying safari, so light aircraft handle the transfers, with the final leg flying into Wilson Airport and transferring to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure. There is a 15 kilogram baggage limit on all internal flights, in soft bags. Every month of the year rates well for this route, so timing is flexible.
