Questions about this Serengeti and Zanzibar trip
How is the time split between bush and beach?
Seven days and six nights in total. The first night is at Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge, then days two to four are at Elewana Serengeti Pioneer Camp in the central Serengeti, and the last stretch is at Elewana Kilindi Zanzibar on the coast, reached by scheduled flight from the Serengeti.
What is there to do in Zanzibar?
Beyond the beach, guided tours of the spice farms along the Spice Route include a rainforest nature walk and the chance to taste and smell different spices while learning about tropical plants and trees. Included coastal activities at Kilindi cover paddleboarding, kayaking, interactive Swahili cooking classes and sundowners.
Is the hot-air balloon safari part of the price?
A balloon flight is one of the memorable ways to see the Serengeti, taking in the Grumeti River and rocky outcrops in the north or the Moru Kopjes and Lake Magadi in the south. It is not listed among the included activities, though, which cover shared scheduled game drives, guided bush walks and sundowners, so we would quote it separately.
What does it cost and are there dates to avoid?
Rates start from US$6,791 per person for 1 to 30 April 2026. March and 1 November to 19 December are US$7,431, while 4 January to 28 February and 1 June to 31 October are US$8,820. There are no rates for 1 to 31 May 2026 because Kilindi Zanzibar is closed, and a five-night minimum applies at Kilindi over the festive season.
Is this trip suitable for children?
Elewana Kilindi Zanzibar welcomes children over the age of 16, so it is not the right choice for families with younger ones. It tends to suit couples and honeymooners, along with photographers and birders. If you are travelling with younger children, tell us and we will suggest an alternative beach property.
