Questions about this Pemba Island trip

How long is the Pemba Island trip and what does it cost?

It runs to five days and four nights, with four of those spent at The Manta Resort on Pemba and a departure transfer on day five. Rates start from US$2,249 per person sharing in the standard season, with a higher rate applying over the busier months. We can quote for single travellers and larger families on request.

What is included in the rate at The Manta Resort?

The cost covers full board accommodation, soft drinks, beer, house and premium wines and spirits, use of snorkelling equipment and kayaks, and one spa treatment per person per day. Scheduled flights and domestic flight departure tax, airport and airstrip transfers, laundry, the Kwanini Foundation and community levy, AMREF Flying Doctors membership and all statutory taxes are also covered.

What is not covered, so I can budget properly?

International flights and visa fees sit outside the package, as do gratuities and items of a personal nature. Champagne, luxury spirits and select wines are charged separately, and any activities beyond those listed in the inclusions are extra. Statutory increases outside our control are also excluded. We are happy to talk through likely additional spend before you confirm.

Can Pemba be added to the end of a wildlife safari?

It works well that way, as a quiet finish after time in the bush, though it also stands up perfectly as a holiday in its own right. Flights come into Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, where our representative and driver guide meet you. Bear in mind the 15kg baggage restriction, in soft bags, on all internal flights when planning a combined trip.

Is The Manta Resort open all year round?

Not quite. The resort closes from 1 April to 31 May, which is why there are no green season rates. Over the festive period, 20 to 31 December, a minimum five-night stay applies and rates are quoted on request. The standard season rate covers March, June and November, with a higher rate in the other open months.
