What makes this an eco-lodge rather than just a lodge?
Chyulu Lodge, built in 2020, is described as the first lodge on the continent to achieve zero carbon emissions. Game drives are run in electric Land Rovers, or a Rivian for suite guests, which are silent and emission-free, and carbon emissions offsetting is built into the rate.
Are flights from Nairobi included?
Return flights from Wilson Airport are included on stays of a minimum of three nights, along with a dedicated vehicle and guide for your party. Rates start from US$1,100 per person per night in April, May and November and rise to US$1,500 between June and October and in December.
What is there to do besides game drives?
A good deal. Escorted game walks, cloud forest walks, horse riding, birding, bush meals and picnics, stargazing, visits to Maasai cultural villages, a visit to the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust research centre and an organic farm visit are all covered by the rate.
