How does Forest Lodge differ from the other Grootbos lodges?

Forest Lodge is the quieter, more romantic of the two main lodges. It stands high on a hill with unobstructed 180-degree views over the Grootbos reserve and Walker Bay, reached by walkways through ancient milkwood forest. There are 16 free-standing suites, each with its own fireplace, plus an infinity pool looking out to sea.

What is included in the rate?

Rates start from ZAR 12,100 per person per night and cover accommodation, a welcome drink, water, soft drinks, tea, coffee and minibar, daily fresh fruit in the suite, breakfast buffet with full English menu, light lunch and a five-course dinner. Guided walks, horse riding and nature, marine and coastal drives are also included.

Can beginners join the horse riding?

Yes, riding through the reserve is open to both novice and experienced riders, with a weight limit of 90kg per person. Children under 12 are limited to guided pony rides. If riding is not for you, the fynbos nature tours, milkwood forest walks and the De Kelders and Klipgat coastal outings cover the same landscape on foot.
