How many people can the two villas sleep?
There are two. The six-bedroom villa has six light-filled suites for up to 12 guests across roughly 1,000 square metres, while the four-bedroom villa, built in 2016, has four suites for eight guests across about 800 square metres. Both sit apart from the rest of the Grootbos estate for privacy.
Is the rate charged per villa or per person?
Per villa. Rates start from ZAR 144,250 per house, which reflects that you take the whole building and its staff rather than individual rooms. That makes it worth doing the sums for a family or a group of friends travelling together, and we are happy to work the per-person figure out with you.
What staff and facilities come with a villa?
Each villa comes with private staff, including a chef cooking your meals, a butler and nature guides; the four-bedroom villa also includes laundry and valet service and a private guide with a vehicle for your exclusive use. The six-bedroom villa adds a cinema room, swimming pool, cellar, gym, grand piano and a South African art collection.

Grootbos 6-Bedroom Villa rates include:-
- Accommodation in freestanding suites
- Welcome drink served upon arrival
- Fresh fruit daily in suite
- Breakfast buffet with full English breakfast menu

- Horse riding for non- and experienced riders through the reserve (please note that the weight limit is 90kg/198lbs per person). Children under the age of 12 are only allowed on guided pony rides.
- Guided walks including fynbos nature tours and Milkwood walks
- Nature, marine & coastal drives and walks including the Walker Bay Nature Reserve, De Kelders cliff walk, Klipgat Cave combined with seasonal land-based whale watching (whale watching especially during June – December)
- Bird-watching: experience a great variety of bird species on the reserve
- Various maps of the reserve and the area for self-guided walks
