It is Shamwari's family lodge, and children of all ages are welcome. There is a Kids on Safari programme to keep younger guests occupied, a supervised playroom and jungle gym, and a rim-flow swimming pool with a shallow section. The boma looks out over the Bushman's River for evenings together after the drives.
How are the rates charged here?
Riverdene is quoted per room rather than per person, starting from ZAR 66,220 per room per night, which is worth bearing in mind when comparing it with the per-person lodges on the reserve. Rates include accommodation, meals, selected local beverages, game drives, guided walks, the tourism levy and 15 percent VAT.
What is not covered by the rate?
French champagne and premium branded beverages sit outside the rate, as do transfers, laundry, gift boutique purchases, spa treatments and retail, and the conservation levy. We set all of this out clearly when we quote so there are no surprises at check-out.
