Questions about this Kenya conservancy safari

Which areas does this safari visit?

Four in six nights: Selenkay Conservancy near Amboseli, a full day in Amboseli National Park itself, then the Maasai Mara Reserve and Ol Kinyei Conservancy. You stay at Porini Amboseli Camp and Porini Mara Camp, small tented camps set in the conservancies rather than in the busiest corners of the parks.

Why stay in conservancies rather than the main parks?

The conservancies keep wildlife free and protected in its natural habitat, away from the tourist crowds, and the camps have their own private tracks. From Selenkay you drive through the bush on a private track into Amboseli for a full day, so you still get the headline park without being based inside it.

What wildlife might I see?

The safari is built around Africa's iconic animals, including elephants, lions, cheetahs, leopards and giraffes. Ol Kinyei gives a full day looking for elephants, buffalo, giraffe, plains game and the big cats, while Amboseli and the Mara Reserve each add their own character. Sightings are never guaranteed, but these areas are quiet and productive.

Is there a cultural element to the trip?

Yes. On the first afternoon there is an escorted walk to a nearby Maasai village, and on day three you walk in Selenkay Conservancy with Maasai guides. Walking with the people who know the country gives a very different sense of the landscape from a vehicle, and both are part of the itinerary.

How much does it cost and when is it cheapest?

Rates start from US$4,005 per adult sharing, applying from 1 to 15 April 2026. January to March is US$4,360, June and November to mid-December US$4,415, and October US$4,520, while July to September peaks at US$5,960 and the festive dates are US$5,905. July to November are the strongest months for game viewing.
