About this Safari

We are so excited to share that our guide extraordinaire on this safari will be Entara’s director and guide trainer, Ethan Kinsey, himself!

Ethan Kinsey was born and raised in a rural village close to Arusha, where he, his wife and two daughters now make their home.

While primarily occupied with designing and guiding private safaris throughout East Africa, he also leads guide training curricula, develops guiding standards, and provides training for National Park rangers in Tanzania.

Ethan’s love for nature and wilderness are evident and he strongly advocates getting out of your comfort zones and allowing yourself incredible experiences in nature. His comfort, whether it’s looking for scorpions in desert environments, or birding in rain forests, to sitting in the midst of a herd of wild elephants, is not only reassuring but inspiring.

I had heard about Ethan’s reputation as an outstanding guide many years ago (before we had even started Chalo Africa) but it is only now that our stars have finally aligned, and I can confidently assure you that his presence on our trip will take our safari experience to a whole new level.

Along with Ethan and Entara’s senior guides, we are aiming for this trip to be an immersive safari experience in every sense of the word. So it won’t only be about ‘meeting people and seeing wildlife’, but also about learning about the whys and why nots about their behaviors, their societies and their eco-systems. We ask all guests to come armed with binoculars, cameras, notebooks, and an insatiable curiosity – and off we’ll venture, by car and on foot, into the plains, woodlands, and kopjes of Lake Eyasi and Eastern Serengeti.

From being hosted by the Hadzabe bushmen on the shores of Lake Eyasi to learning how a cheetah mom strategizes her next hunt, this will not be a textbook lesson— instead, we’ll let nature take the lead, uncovering her secrets as they unfold before us.

Our safari program will delve into a variety of “ologies”—geology, ecology, ethology, ornithology, entomology, paleontology, and more. We plan to put your curiosity to work, so that you come away from this trip feeling energized and enriched by all that we have learnt together.

So, as always, it is my great pleasure to invite you on this unique safari where our focus will be on the stories that intrigue us, the connections that inspire awe, and a deeper understanding of what makes this small slice of Africa, one the greatest shows on Earth.    Hope to see you there!
