Questions about this Bwindi gorilla extension
Is five days really enough for gorilla trekking?
It is, provided the routing is tight. You overnight in Entebbe on arrival, fly to Kihihi Airstrip the next morning and spend three nights at Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp inside Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, then fly back on day five. The trip works as a standalone journey or as an extension tacked onto another East African safari.
Why are two gorilla treks included rather than one?
Two trekking experiences in Bwindi are built into the price, along with all permits, park and conservancy fees. A second trek gives you another family and another set of conditions, which most guests find worthwhile given the cost of getting there. Guided community walks at Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp fill the remaining time.
When can we travel?
July to December is the prime window, with July, August and September the strongest months. There are no rates for 1 January to 28 February 2026 as Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp is closed. Pricing is from US$6,157 per person sharing for 1 April to 31 May and 1 November to 20 December, and US$8,138 for March, June, October and 21 to 31 December.
What is included at the camp?
Full board at Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp with soft drinks, house and premium alcoholic drinks and champagne, plus bed and breakfast at No.5 Boutique Hotel in Entebbe. Scheduled flights and domestic flight departure tax, airport and airstrip transfers and Regional Medical Evacuation Membership are covered. Additional meals and drinks in Entebbe, international flights, visas and gratuities are not.
Are there age limits or luggage restrictions?
Gorilla trekking is permitted for children aged 15 and older, so this is not a trip for younger families. Internal flights carry a 15 kilogram baggage allowance in soft bags, which catches people out if they arrive with hard suitcases. We can arrange to store extra luggage in Entebbe while you are in the forest.
