Can we see Kilimanjaro from the lodge?
Yes. The lodge sits in an acacia grove by a gentle mountain spring, with uninterrupted views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding savannah from the garden restaurant and the palm-shaded pool and sundeck. Mornings are the time for it, when the snow-capped peaks show most clearly.
Is it a good choice with children?
It is well set up for families, with family rooms, children's dining and menus, and baby-sitting available. There are board games and a library of Africana books for quieter afternoons, and the pool and sundeck sit in the shade of palms. Rates start from US$158 per room per night.
Are there walks and community visits as well?
Guests can plant a tree as part of the lodge's re-forestation programme, join guided nature and birdwatching walks, or take dinner out in the bush and breakfast on the plains. There are also visits to Maasai communities with handicrafts to buy, and Maasai dance performances at the outdoor barbecue area.
