Unusually well. There are three family cottages plus a two-bedroom Family Suite with its own swimming pool, a dedicated vehicle and its own ranger and tracker team, which effectively gives a family a private safari. The WILDchild children's programme is included in the rate.
Can you watch game without leaving the lodge?
The guest areas overlook a private waterhole, and elephants regularly appear while guests are at the pool. Evenings run to boma dinners under the stars, so a good deal of the day can be spent within the lodge and still feel like a safari.
What are drives like on the concession?
Ngala is a private concession inside Kruger with exclusive traversing rights over 14,700 hectares, no fences and no other operators' vehicles. Late afternoon drives continue after nightfall, and sensitive off-roading brings you close to sightings. Bush walks and walking safaris run too. Rates start from ZAR 18,900 per person per night.
