Questions about Chapungu

How small is the camp?

There are eight African-style luxury tents taking a maximum of sixteen guests, so it stays quiet. The tents look out over the bushveld and are linked by pathways to the main lodge. The furnishing reflects a colonial era, and both the cooking and the service are held to a high standard.

Are walking safaris part of the stay?

They are. Walks give guests a better chance of seeing the smaller creatures of the bush, and time to learn about the flora and fauna of the region and to follow tracks in more detail than a vehicle allows. The camp sits within the Thornybush Reserve in the Greater Kruger.

Is there a spa, and can we meet the local community?

Guests may use the Thornybush Amani Spa, and visits are arranged to the Hlokomela community project, which brings together local initiatives providing services in the surrounding area. Rates start from US$450 per person per night, with current seasonal rates confirmed on enquiry.
