Fugitives’ Drift is set in a 5000-acre game reserve with 22km of river frontage. The Lodge and Guest House face roughly north-east and have commanding views of the peak of Isandlwana and of the rough country the fugitives from the battle had to traverse in order to get back across the Buffalo River into Natal.

They are not. The rate covers all meals, teas and coffees, the Graves Walking Tour and unguided walks on the reserve. Tours of Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift are charged separately, as are drinks, the community and conservation levy, child minding, laundry and gratuities.

Is there wildlife as well as Anglo-Zulu War history?
