A Luxury Tented Camp in Mozambique
Camp Details
Muzimu Lodge is Gorongosa’s flagship safari camp — a place where authentic wilderness, thoughtful design, and outstanding hospitality come together in one of Africa’s most extraordinary landscapes. Set along a curve of the Mussicadzi River, it offers a deeply immersive base from which to explore the park’s diverse ecosystems and wildlife.
Named after the “Guardian Spirit,” Muzimu is a place of quiet strength and spiritual connection, designed to sit lightly on the land and blend seamlessly with its surroundings. It’s also a central hub for many of Gorongosa’s pioneering conservation and community initiatives. Whether you’re heading out on a guided walk, learning about biodiversity, or enjoying a sundowner by the fire, Muzimu Lodge offers a safari experience that goes far beyond the ordinary — personal, purposeful, and deeply rooted in place.
Raised above the ground and discreetly positioned along the riverbank, Muzimu Lodge’s six tented suites are designed in classic East African style, offering a quiet, elegant retreat after a day in the bush. Each canvas tent opens onto a private timber deck with views of the surrounding landscape. Inside, king-sized beds, fine linens, en-suite bathrooms, ceiling fans, and thoughtful touches ensure comfort without excess. Simplicity here is intentional, allowing the beauty of Gorongosa to take centre stage, while every detail — from the filtered light to the soft sounds of nature — contributes to a sense of serenity and connection.
