Sand Rivers Selous is located in the remote heart of Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve) in Southern Tanzania, on the banks of the mile-wide Rufiji River.
8 spacious open-fronted cottages raised on high concrete platforms. There are 5 Standard Riverside rooms and 3 Hillside Suites. All have en-suite bathrooms, with flush toilets, powerful showers and hot and cold running water. The 3 Hillside Suites have an additional lounge area and private plunge pool. All rooms have overhead ceiling fans over the bed and epic views out over the river.

There are eight open-fronted cottages raised on high concrete platforms above the mile-wide Rufiji River: five standard riverside rooms and three hillside suites, the latter with an additional lounge area and private plunge pool. All are en-suite with flush toilets, powerful showers, hot and cold running water and ceiling fans over the bed.
Is fly-camping available?
It is, at an extra supplement, and the camp recommends it as part of any stay. The surrounding area is quiet with few other camps, which is what makes a night out under canvas away from the lodge feel worthwhile rather than gimmicky.
What activities are included, and is there an age limit?
Rates start from US$625 per person per night in the June and November to February windows and include full board, shared game drives, bush walks, boat trips, bush picnics, cook-out breakfasts, sundowners, trips to the hot springs and fishing, plus scheduled road transfers to Kiba airstrip, drinks except champagne and premium wines, and laundry. The minimum age is eight.
