5.0 / 51 rating

Founded in 2010, the location of the Camp Hwange concession is ideal. This private area in the central part of Hwange lies between the rugged mopane woodlands and their kopjes to the north, and the sandy soil teak forests to the south-west; its location here on the open savannah means that the game viewing is as diverse as the habitat types.

Four spacious and airy en-suite rooms lie on either side of the Camp Hwange main area, each with direct views onto the permanent waterhole. The rooms are canvas-walled and kept cool in summer (and warm in winter) by their thatched roofs. One is a two-roomed family room with independent bathrooms. The spacing between them ensures privacy for each room with our obligatory gauze panels serving as windows to ensure both a cooling through draft as well as the ability to hear the sounds of the night. Whether it is the frogs at the waterhole, a lonely whooping Hyaena, the splashes and rumbles of an elephant herd in the water or the roars of the resident Lion pride, we want you to hear, smell and feel Africa.

WHY CHOOSE CAMP HWANGE?

  • There are a number of water holes in the area that attract an abundant variety of animals and birdlife.
  • Walks are especially exciting and our professional licensed guides pride themselves on their knowledge of the big and small things that make up the environment.
  • wholesome cuisine includes a good selection of meats, vegetables and fruits.
