Camp Details
Deteema Springs is a small concession area in a well-known northern region of the Hwange National Park. Close to the Deteema dam, the camp is perched on a slight rocky rise above permanent water springs, offering magnificent views of large concentrations of animals, including elephants. While night safaris are not allowed due to park regulations, Deteema offers amazing opportunities for walking safaris and viewing wildlife from the comfort of the camp.
The style of the camp is “Less is more”. A nonpretentious camp designed to blend in with the rock and bush which occur on this slight rise above the Deteema Springs.
The tents are smaller than the traditional Machaba style tent, fitting in with the surroundings of one of the most iconic parts of Hwange National Park.

Are night drives offered?
No. Night safaris are not permitted here under park regulations, so the emphasis falls on walking safaris, day drives and watching game from the camp itself. The year-round water seeps make that last option more rewarding than it sounds, particularly for elephant.
What are the tents like?
Smaller than the traditional Machaba tent, and deliberately so. The camp follows a less is more approach, designed to blend with the rock and bush on a slight rise above the springs. It is unpretentious rather than grand, in one of the more iconic corners of northern Hwange.
Are there costs on top of the rate?
Yes. Rates include meals, laundry, lodge activities, return vehicle airstrip transfers from Robins airstrip and drinks other than imported and premium brands. They exclude flights, premium imports, travel insurance, visas, tips and a community and conservation levy of US$15 per person per day. Children above six are welcome.
