Kafue National Park, Zambia

Kafue National Park is the oldest and largest park in Zambia, covering a staggering area of 2,400 square kilometers. The park is one of the more accessible parks in Zambia, located not too far away from Lusaka. It is named after the winding ‘Kafue River' and consists of a diverse terrain of woodlands, swamplands and grasslands. Busanga Plain, a seasonal floodplain located towards the north of the park, attracts a variety of incredible wildlife. The park is home to over 55 different species of animals, including the Big 4 (rhinos are not found here). An astonishing 490 bird species have been recorded in the park.
