Mkombe's House Lamai was designed specifically with little children in mind, children of all ages are welcome, and baby-sitting sits within the rate along with full-board meals. It is named after Mkombe, a guide who cherished this part of the Serengeti and connected strongly with children and their parents.
How is the house priced?
Per camp per night rather than per person, since you take the whole house. Rates run from US$3,700 in the quieter windows of early June, November to mid-December and January to mid-March 2027, US$5,700 for late June, October and the festive period, and US$7,700 from July to September.
How much say do we have over the daily programme?
A great deal. As the only self-contained private house in the Serengeti, everything from activity times to meals is flexible, and the rate covers private game drives, short seasonal bush walks and bush picnics with your own guide. Private road transfers to and from Kogatende airstrip and drinks, apart from champagne and premium wines, are also included.
