Botswana Photo Safari: Chobe & Okavango Delta
US$ 9,850 per person for a 8-day safari
The Chobe River and The Okavango Delta.
Perched on the northern edge of Botswana is its third largest park: Chobe National Park, spread over 11,700 square kilometers. Chobe is known as the "Land of Giants" thanks to its enormous elephant population, the largest in Africa. It is named after the meandering Chobe river which traverses a mixed terrain of floodplains, woodlands, and marshland. Aside from elephants, predator sightings, especially that of lions, continue to delight visitors. It is also home to a large number of bird species, including waders, skimmers and other water birds, creating an ideal landscape for photographers. A boat safari along the Chobe river is highly recommended.
Chobe has 4 distinct terrains and your experience will depend on which part of the park you visit. Due to it's proximity to Kasane and Victoria Falls, the park receives many day tourists. This heavy footfall can take away from your safari if you are looking for a true wilderness experience.
If you are looking for accommodation in Chobe National Park (Botswana), look no further. Check out the leading Chobe camps and lodges.
Best months to visit: Peak seasons months are from August to October
Months that can be avoided: While September and October are great for game viewing it becomes very hot. If you are okay with the heat, these dry months will offer you excellent wildlife sightings. With the start of the rains from end November onwards, wildlife disperses. December to March are excellent for birding.
