Day By Day Itinerary
Day 1 – 3: Central Kalahari Game Reserve
Upon arrival at Maun airport you are met by your private guide and are transferred to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve in a safari vehicle. This game reserve covers an area of 52,000 km² (larger than Switzerland) and is the largest and most remote reserve in Southern Africa. The settlement by Bushmen started about 25,000 years ago. This wild and rough region is still very pristine and especially the northern part has an abundant wildlife. Visi-tors can be amazed by the unique wilderness of fascinating beauty. Besides the magnificent black-maned Kalahari lions, it is also populated with lots of cheetahs, using the plains to prey on large herds of springboks. Other ani-mals found in the reserve include vast prides of jackals, leopards, ground squirrels, bat-eared foxes, honey badgers and the rare long-haired brown hyenas. Animals you rarely see elsewhere.
Day 4: Maun
You are driven back to Maun where you spend one night in a lodge before the safari adventure continues. Experience the safari capital of Botswana during your free time in the afternoon. Maun Lodge or elsewhere
Day 5 – 7: Moremi Game Reserve (Okavango Delta)
After breakfast you set off to the famous Moremi Game Reserve which covers one third of the Okavango Delta. A mosaic of grasslands, forests and lagoons that is home to some of the richest flora and fauna in Africa. You spend the first three nights on a private campsite in the wilderness and go on thrilling game drives in the incredible animal kingdom.
Day 8 – 9: Khwai Region
In the morning you drive to the Khwai Region where you stay on a private campsite the next two nights. The Khwai River forms the border between the Moremi Game Reserve and the Khwai Region.
As night drives in state-owned national parks and reserves are not allowed, you have the possibility to go on nocturnal game drives in this area where you may especially find roan and sable antelopes. During the dry season it is inhabited by large herds of elephants and buffalos. You may also see other animals such as leopards, cheetahs and lions.
Day 10 – 11: Chobe National Park, Savuti Region
You continue the journey north to the Chobe National Park where you spend two nights amidst the wilderness of the Savuti Region. The desert-like land-scape with high sand dunes and hills of volcanic origin is unique for this region. The legendary area is an extreme wilderness: rough and romantic at the same time. It attracts a high number of animals, especially elephants, hyenas and lions. Other animals found here are zebras, wildebeests, kudus, giraffes, leopards and wild dogs. Experience Africa on thrilling game drives and visit the unique petroglyphs of the Bushmen.
Day 12 – 13: Chobe National Park, Chobe River
You drive through the Chobe National Park to the Chobe River. The National Park is the third largest reserve in Botswana and is home to huge herds of elephants. Depending on the season between 90,000 and 120,000 animals can be found here. This region is characterized by wide floodplains with an abundant array of wildlife. Especially during the dry season, between April and October, large herds of elephants come to the river to drink and bath. But you can also find animals from November to March. Other animals that can be seen include buffalos, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, kudus, water-bucks and many more. The river is inhabited by various hippos and croco-diles and the waterfronts are often used by lions, leopards, hyenas and wild dogs hunting their prey.
Day 14: End of safari in Kasane
After breakfast your guide brings you to Kasane where your eventful safari ends.
